A Quick Note on Clones and Quality

Like with any popular product, there are clones out there. We stick to tools we genuinely trust—our lock pick sets are authentic and sourced from reputable manufacturers.

That’s not to say all clones are bad quality—we just can’t speak for them, as we don’t use them ourselves. What we can say is that good picks take real engineering, testing, and a lot of trial and error to get right.

Progressive locks are one of the best ways to learn lockpicking. They start with fewer pins, helping you develop that all-important feel for what’s going on inside the lock. As you gain confidence, you can gradually move up to more pins.

These locks are also repinnable, so you can create your own custom challenges with endless combinations. We even offer a bundle that includes a reload kit and tweezers—perfect for experimenting and leveling up your skills.

Clear locks are another great option for new lock pickers. Seeing the pins in action can help them understand the mechanics.

The Clear Padlock is our easiest lock and as such we do recommend this to absolute beginners. It is a very popular item, designed to be VERY easy and a starting point to give people an understanding of how locks work. The tolerance for picking is a lot less, hence some may find the lock easy after some time.

Many beginners use a combo of progressive and clear locks to get the best of both worlds. Whichever way you go, you’ll have plenty to keep you busy!

Is it a warranty fault, or has something happened that passed the limits of the item and made it fail? If unsure, please don’t hesitate to contact us with the following information:

1. Indicate your order number for the product
2. A brief description of the issue 
3. Photos or a video identifying the issue or area affected.

Once we’ve received the above, our warranty team will look into your issue and provide an update as soon as possible.

The main difference lies in the thickness of the picks. The Southord 9-piece Slimline Set features thinner picks perfect for navigating narrow keyways, and the thicker metal handles provide excellent feedback during use.

Whichever set you choose, you’ll be getting high-quality tools that are trusted by beginners and pros alike.

Pick guns allow for quick entry—often without the same level of finesse needed with traditional picks. That said, they still require practice and a bit of technique, especially if you’re new to lockpicking.

With some hands-on time (usually an hour or two), many lock pickers can open standard door locks in 5–10 seconds using a pick gun. The key is lining up the needle so it touches all the pins, then pulling the trigger rapidly while applying light tension. It works a bit like a Newton’s cradle, bouncing the pins up, then catching them on the way down with tension.

Worried about misuse? Don’t be. Pick guns are loud, not stealthy, and still require skill and practice to be effective. They’re tools, not magic.

Original Lishi and Genuine Lishi are both brands of Lishi tools. They are generally the same quality, but may have different finishes. The Genuine Lishi Picks & Decoders are more commonly seen in Europe and Australia, made from high-grade stainless steel.

Firstly, remember the rules! Only pick what you own. Car locks can be a bit different, it really depends on the model of vehicle.

For older vehicles, normal picks will work. For anything a bit newer, they use high-security locks that require specially made tools for that make of car.

You’ll receive confirmation once your order ships and a tracking number from Auspost (reference Keepspace). Our custom software keeps you informed at each stage of the purchasing process.

You will receive a tracking number (with reference from Keepspace) that will allow you to track your shiny new picks as they make their way to you. You can rest easy knowing you’ll be soon opening your new picks and plenty of locks.

Your Tracking number is sent automatically using our awesome software, to your email – Check your Junk Box! You’ll be kept informed through each part of the process.

What are your shipping times?

All of our stock is held in Australia, saving you weeks of waiting for items to come from the US/Canada.

We ship directly from our warehouse to you, with a registered post in Australia, serving all of Australia and shipping to over 100+ countries globally.

Please Note: At PickPals we do our best to get your Picks to you ASAP. The following times are based on our current estimations. When you track your parcel, the update ‘Received by Australia Post’ means it has left Perth, not that it is being held in Perth.  e.g. Tracking will show. *Please note that we cannot investigate the whereabouts of your order until the times displayed in this table have been exceeded. i.e. If you are in Brisbane, please do not contact us asking the whereabouts of your parcel until 6 business days (Business days are Mon-Fri) have elapsed.

First up, track your parcel on the Australia Post website (or the New Zealand Post website if you’re in New Zealand).

You’ll find your tracking code in the shipping confirmation email or alternately, log in to PickPals and see the status of your order.

If things aren’t making sense in the tracking, we’re happy to help out. That said, due to restrictions with Australia Post, we can’t get any answers until the package is more than three days late if ship express or seven days late if standard shipping based on the shipping times.

That means if we were sending to Sydney via Regular Post, more than 9 days need to have passed before we can get answers about what’s going on.

We know it’s not ideal, but we have to play by Australia Post’s rules, especially at busy times of the year like Christmas and Easter.

So if your package is more than three days late if ship express or more than seven days late if standard shipping, drop us a line and be sure to include your name, order number, tracking number, and contact information so we can find out what’s going on for you.

If you ordered a backorder product with other items the order will be processed as a single order, we may be waiting on the items to arrive.

Check the stock to see if the back-ordered item is now in stock.

The tracking status ‘pending – no events yet’ means that the item hasn’t been scanned yet.

This could be because of it: hasn’t been posted yet, OR it’s taking a little longer for Australia post for its first scan, OR was part of a bulk mailing where items have been posted over the counter in bulk but not scanned yet.

Please try tracking your item again in 24-48 hours. PickPals posts your lock picks all over Australia and the globe as fast as we can, providing superior customer service.

Some of these events may be out of our hands but we won’t leave any stone unturned to ensure your package of quality lock picks and accessories arrive in a timely manner.

While overnight shipping is our fastest option, it does not guarantee next-day delivery in all cases, especially for addresses such as apartments, P.O. Boxes, or remote areas.

When overnight delivery isn’t possible due to these conditions, we automatically upgrade your order to express shipping as the next best option to ensure it reaches you as quickly as possible.
