A great start

Learn to lockpick with Sparrows cutaway locks. These practice cylinders will help you to learn and improve your lock picking skills. With the ability to see the internal working of the lock you gain the benefit of seeing how different picks can manipulate each pin.

This five-pin Standard version is great for both learning and teaching how to lockpick. With the ability to both see and feel the pins set you will increase your ability to sense proper feedback from your picks as you increase your lockpicking skills. The Size also lets you pick in hand or in a vice. Standard pins are the most common pins found in locks and the best place to start.

Sparrows Cutaway locks come in with standard or high-security pins. Currently, all Sparrows cutaway designs feature a barrel key with a Schlage keyway.

The one question that we get is what is the difference between a clear acrylic practice lock and a Brass cut away. A brass cutaway has different feedback. With the brass pins on a brass shell the feedback that you feel in both the pick and in your fingers holding the shell is sharper. The clicks from picking are also a more natural to that of real lock. These differences are minor but as you gain experience you will start to notice the difference. Just starting out? Then grab which works best for you, you can’t go wrong and both will teach you the essentials.

NOTE: Pictures show right hand sided cutaway, lefts are cut on the opposite window.
